10 steps to create your daily yoga practice
Do you want to create your own daily yoga practice
but don’t know where to start?
Here are our TLC steps to help you craft a life-long transformative sadhana.
STEP 1
Create a sacred space
The Hatha Yoga Pridapika teaches us to begin our sadhana by finding a private sacred space. Let this be a place that feels uniquely yours and without distractions. Create a ritual of cleansing your space by burning sage or palo santo. Another beautiful way to honour your sacred space is with a shrine using incense, candles, crystals, fresh flowers and images or statues of deities.
Step 2
timing
Choose a time that you can commit to every day. We prefer to have our sadhana in the morning so that we feel abundant with the energy we cultivate throughout our day.
STEP 3
Avoid coffee before practice
This way you can really feel into the energetic effects of your practice, from your mood to your energy levels.
STEP 4
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing
It is important to feel confident and comfy for your sadhana so you’re not distracted. At TLC we are huge fans of Indigo Luna and their ethically made hand dyed yoga wear.
STEP 5
Consecrate
If you have been initiated into the Tantric practice of consecration, this is how to begin your sadhana each day. The act of consecration is offering up the karmic fruits of your practice to divine consciousness. If this is is something you are interested in learning, we initiate all of our TLC The Method students into this sacred Tantric practice.
STEP 6
STEP 7
CREATE A SOULFUL PRACTICE
Use a combination of asana, pranayama and meditation for your daily practice. Our TLC Online Studio has 200+ soulful yoga classes which can help form your sadhana!
STEP 8
do the same set of practices for a month
This will allow you to deeply experience every aspect of your sadhana, encouraging self-reflection, healing and tapas (your inner fire and discipline).
Step 9
connect to your cycle
Vary the intensity of your practice based on your cycle. This is practicing in a way that is deeply feminine and intuitive. We have recently launched an online course to help guide you to use your yoga practice as a way to honour your hormonal changes throughout the 4 phases of your menstrual cycle. If you don’t have a menstrual cycle you can work with the seasons; summer, autumn, winter, spring - this can work as a guideline for your practice which varies with the cycles of nature.
