OUR community
our tribe is what makes the light collective so special
The people who join The Light Collective practices are grounded, connected, conscious people interested in connecting to something deeper than the every day. Our students are the most important part of what we do.
To say thank you to our community and make a positive impact together, we host and collaborate on charitable fundraisers, mass meditations, festivals and Kirtans. A Space For Connection is an annual TLC donation based yoga event we hold in Melbourne to support local charities.
Nurturing the development of yoga teachers in our tribe is also a key part of our ethos. We do this through our mentoring program and provide teaching opportunities. We want to champion yoga teachers and share this life changing practice.
Yoga is a wholehearted practice and lifestyle. Everyone is welcome at The Light Collective. We create sacred space, that embraces inclusivity and diversity.
bushfire fundraiser - earth ritual, prayer, mantra and meditation
On Sunday Jan 12th we gathered 230 people to raise over $6500 for The Australian Red Cross. Created in just 5 days this practice is a testament to the power of community. When we come together, building community, connecting with like minded souls in a way that connects us to healing practices, we create the potential for real change. It is through an uplifting of the collective consciousness that we find strength to take the compassionate action that is needed to support not just the earth, but the victims, volunteers, homes and millions of wildlife that have died and suffered.
a space for connection
We created A Space For Connection in 2017 as a donation community yoga and meditation event. The event raises money for charitable organisations we support, including the Cathy Freeman Foundation, Helping Hands and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Since it began we have raised over $6300 and welcomed over 900 students of all ages and levels of yoga. Expanding the size and offering each year, we have collaborated with local sound healing and reiki collaborators.
Charity and fundraisers
Alongside leading our own fundraisers, we have also collaborated on further events steered by brands and organisations we love. We lead the moving meditation at the annual Mindful Walk, supporting mental wellness, whilst sharing and embracing the journey with those around us. We also guide yoga at the wellness morning hosted by The Langham hotel in Melbourne for #Yoga4Dignity. This charity helps to make real difference and bring dignity to women and girls in Australia experiencing poverty, homelessness and domestic violence and period poverty through the distribution of sanitary items.
Festivals
We love festivals, mass meditations and large scale yoga gatherings. The coming together of so many like-minded souls is such a special experience especially when working with yoga; there is a palpable energetic awareness we all tap into. We have been honoured to host yoga events, energetic practices, breath workshops and group meditations. We have worked with with many festivals including: Soul Star Holistic festival, Wanderlust 108, Seven Sisters and Rainbow Serpent for the first time in 2020.
collaborations
We are honoured to expand our offering with local and international brands we align with. We have shared The Light Collective practices and widened the community of conscious souls with events and gatherings. We have collaborated on the Conscious Connections series with A-SPACE meditation studio, guided yoga for experimental thinking with Foolscap architecture firm at MPavilion and led intergenerational yoga with RMIT university. We have also guided a heart opening meditation for the Abbotsford Convent Open Spaces Day and a community Kirtan with Yoga 8 Melbourne.
Teaching community
Every yoga teacher has something unique to offer. At The Light Collective we work to support the growth and development of teachers we have trained, connected with and mentored. We nurture the authentic voice of every teacher as an individual. Through The TLC Method training, we have brought on and promoted teachers to be a part of our public Full Moon events and corporate events, including a yoga flow and energetic practice for a TOM organic wellness morning for organic awareness month.
